About The Trixie Foundation - Appalachia's largest animal protection organization and no-kill, care-for-life animal sanctuary, 'Eden'
Description Hidden safely away from the outside, troubled world, nestled beside a babbling brook in a secluded valley surrounded by the wooded, hilly forests of eastern Appalachian Kentucky, there exists a spiritual and emotional place of contentment and tranquility - one that has steadfastly offered food, shelter, security and love to hundreds and hundreds of discarded, frightened animals over the course of the last 24 years - The Trixie Foundation's 200+ acre sanctuary, 'Eden'...
Mission To better protect and serve the innocent animals who have nobody else to turn to or help save them in Appalachia.
Overview The Trixie Foundation is the only nationally recognized Animal Protection Organization actually based and physically situated in Appalachia. Operator of its own No-Kill, Care-for-Life Animal Sanctuary, "Eden" (considered the only "pack-oriented" facility in the nation in addition to being one of the largest and oldest care-for-life, no-kill animal sanctuaries in America), The Trixie Foundation and Eden are both located in rural, northeastern Kentucky. Here, the 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation was began on January 22, 1990 in memory of "Trixie" - a beloved Norwegian Elkhound who had recently died in Founder and President Randy Skaggs' arms one week earlier.
