UNPC has had the opportunity to organize, develop and promote athletes with disabilities who have participated in local, regional and international competitions
UPC participated in International Paralympics Games in Atlanta in 1996, Sydney in 2000, Athens in 2004 and Beijing in 2008.
•Sit ball men’s National Team represented Uganda in Rwanda 2008
• Sitting volley ball women’s Team represented Uganda in Kenya 2010 and qualified for the world championship in Oklahoma, USA.
Athletics team scoped 11 medals from the IPC great lakes open athletics championships in Kenya
• UPC Hosted the Sit ball world cup 2010 in Kampala
• UPC Hosted the various African Paralympics Committee regional meetings.
• UPC has successfully managed to Organize National High Schools, primary school and community Athletics competitions for the physically handicapped and visually impaired people every year .
Sitting Volleyball team went for paralympic Qualifiers and we were the 3th Rwanda become the 1st It was took place in Rwanda
UPC has so far qualified 2 Athletes one in 100m and then one in 1500m for Paralympics 2012

UNPC was founded in 1992.However, in 1967 there was a group of persons with disabilities who formed an association with support from awhile woman who was working in Mulago referral hospital as a physiotherapist’s .This Association was called Uganda Paraplegic and she used to rehabilitate her people using Sports. After some time she left and persons with disabilities continue with Sports but as a leisure activity until 1992 when they changed the name to Uganda National Paralympic Committee (UNPC) which used to operate in only 2 districts. It was of recent in 2010 when we had the first official General Assembly where a strong team was elected to take part of disability Sports development and again the name was changed to Uganda Paralympic Committee (UPC). UPC is now working with 19 Sports Association of persons with disabilities and Since then it started enjoying collaboration with Authorities like National Council of Sports, Ministry of Education and Sports and other Development Partners. This helped UPC to present two Athletes in London 2012 Paralympic Games.
