About Dementia Adventure connects people living with dementia to nature and a sense of adventure
Description Dementia Adventure is run by Lucy Harding and Neil Mapes. We are based in Essex but work all over the country to help and support those living with dementia and their carers to access nature and retain a sense of adventure in their lives, reframing what it means to "Live Well with Dementia".
Mission Dementia Adventure has a vision of society in which people living with dementia enjoy an active lifestyle, have strong relationships with people in their communities and have access to a broad range of places and activities which enable them to remain independent.
Overview We are a Community Interest Company established to provide short breaks and adventure travel for people with dementia and their carers. We also aim to support others to do the same by offering training courses and consultancy services which link to research projects all with nature in mind.
The Dementia Adventure Trust (DAT)(Reg No. 1152315) was registered as a charity in 2013 to relieve the needs of people living with dementia, and their carers by: providing or assisting in the provision of holidays, outdoor activities or other support and, promoting research into the benefits of activities which assist in furthering the understanding of living purposefully and meaningfully with dementia and publishing the results of that research. DAT works in partnership with Dementia Adventure CIC. Income from these activities, donations and grant funding mean we can provide Dementia Adventures from park walks to sailing holidays for people living with dementia and their carers.
