Delta SocietySociety — Non-profit organization
|About||Delta Society is now Pet Partners. Please visit our NEW Facebook page at www.facebook.com/petsforhealth|
|Description||Research has proven that when animals are around, people's blood pressure goes down, stress and anxiety levels are reduced, people feel less lonely and less depressed, and they tend to be more social and community oriented.|
|Mission||The mission of Pet Partners is to help lead the world in advancing human health and well-being through positive interactions with animals. We help people throughout the world become healthier and happier by incorporating therapy, service and companion animals into their lives.|
Therapy Animal Program:
This program trains and screens volunteers and their pets for visiting animal programs in hospitals, nursing homes, rehabilitation centers, schools and other facilities. We currently have over 10,000 specially trained and dedicated volunteers who lovingly share the healing power of their pets with others in need.
National Service Animal Resource Center:
This program is web-based, providing information and resources for people with disabilities (as well as their friends and family) who are currently partnered with a service animal or who are considering getting a service animal. Information is available on our website or a friendly voice can assist via phone.
Human-Animal Bond Resource Center:
With over 30 years dedicated to studying and applying theory related to the human-animal bond, you can learn more about the wide variety of health benefits to people of all ages through our library or articles, abstracts and other resources.
