The Audax Hotham Challenge is a new event which offers cyclists a series of challenging mountain rides on the Victorian Labour Day long weekend (Sunday 9 March 2014). Two rides start at Dinner Plain village which is 13 km from Hotham Heights and at an elevation of 1580 metres. Starting at 06:45, the 200 km ride to Mount Buffalo features two long climbs (Mount Buffalo and Mount Hotham) and will keep many riders in the saddle for whole day. At 07:00 its little sibling, the 135 km ride sets off. It may have only one climb, but with a length of 30 km and an altitude gain of 1220 metres it is not for the faint hearted. The third ride starts at 09:00 from Bright Football Ground. From here it's a short ride to Porepunkah where riders will turn left to tackle the climb to Mount Buffalo.
