About DE PROFUNDIS is Oscar Wilde's long and heartbreaking letter written in 1897 to his lover, Lord Alfred Douglas, while incarcerated in Reading Gaol for acts of gross indecency.The title De Profundis alludes to Psalm 130 and means 'Out of the Depths'.
