Mission The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™ was organized for charitable, educational and scientific purposes to encourage and promote the breeding, raising and marketing of better livestock and farm products at public fairs and to promote and maintain research and educational functions within the livestock industry. It is the general policy of the Show to utilize, in the fiscal year subsequent to which it is earned, the excess of its revenue over expenses for the furtherance of its exempt purpose, including the granting and/or funding of scholarships, educational endowments, agricultural research projects and other similar programs and the funding of related capital additions and improvements. The funds of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo are used exclusively to meet necessary expenses for its upkeep and operation and in furtherance of the exempt purpose of the organization.
Overview Since 1932, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™ has committed more than $430 million to the youth of Texas. This Section 501(c)(3) charitable organization, supported by more than 33,000 volunteers, is the world’s largest livestock show and most innovative rodeo. RODEOHOUSTON features the best cowboys and cowgirls competing for a purse of more than $2 million, and hosts the biggest names in the music industry. With tickets averaging more than $20 less than the national concert ticket average, the Show is providing a family-friendly and affordable event. A ticket to the Rodeo also grants entrance to the Show grounds, where the largest Western shopping mall is open for business in NRG Center. In addition to shopping, great food and a thrilling carnival, kids can experience pony rides, petting zoos, a live animal birthing center and other agricultural displays. There’s something for the whole family at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo!
