Msheireb Downtown Doha is an award project developed by Msheireb Properties that aims to revive, regenerate and conserve the historical downtown of the Qatari capital, Doha. The 31 hectare mix use development comprises commercial, residential, retail, cultural, civic and hospitality offerings including the prestigious Mandarin Oriental. The 20 QR billion project was launched in 2009 and employs a bespoke architectural language that is forward looking yet draws its the inspiration from Qatar's rich architectural heritage.
Msheireb Properties’ distinctive mandate is to develop a modern downtown with a sustainable approach: the entire scheme is targeting average LEED Gold certification, making it the world's first sustainable downtown regeneration project. The development is designed to reduce car use and congestion, encouraging a “pedestrian” mindset, and features a dedicated tramway. The project is under construction and scheduled for completion in 2016.
The company is guided by the progressive vision of Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser and is a subsidiary of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF) whose mandate is to contribute to QF's mission of unlocking Qatar's human potential.
Msheireb Properties has selected four international architectural firms: Allies & Morrison architects, Mossesian and Partners, Ajaye Associates, and Johan McAslan & Partners to work on this award winning project.

Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser established the company with a mandate to address a gap in the architectural history of Qatar and rediscover a unique form of Qatari urban development. Msheireb Properties aims to understand and implement how the best of the past, and modern, innovative technologies and thinking can blend to create a new architectural language in Qatar.
